2 Men Guilty Of Raping Woman At Hotel Party In Everett A Middlesex County jury convicted two men for the rape of a woman at a party at a Everett hotel in 2020, authorities said on Thursday, July 25.  William Gomez-Rojas, 31, of Chelsea was found guilty of one count of rape and one count of aggravated rape, and Jose Morales Jr., 36, of Malden, was found guilty of one count of aggravated rape, the Middlesex District Attorney's Office said.  A 22-year-old woman called police on Feb. 23, 2020, and explained that she had gone to a party the night before. No Bail For Teen Accused Of Fatal Stabbing During Chelsea Street Brawl: DA An 18-year-old is being held without bail after authorities say he fatally stabbed someone in a fight over the weekend in Chelsea.  Joksin Briones-Blandon, of Malden, is charged with first-degree murder in the slaying of 44-year-old Santos Cartegena on Saturday, July 20, the Suffolk County District Attorney said. Police were called to the Highland and Grove Street intersection around 10 p.m. to reports of several men fighting.  Cartegena, who suffered multiple stab wounds in the brawl, took himself to the Whidden Hospital. He was later rushed to Beth Israel Hospital for surgery. …

E-Scooter Battery Explosion Blamed For Fire That Injured 5 In Chelsea Fire investigators believe a fire that hurt five people over the weekend in Chelsea was caused when an electric scooter's lithium-ion battery exploded while it was charging.  Firefighters were called to 32 Carmel Street just after 12:30 a.m. on Saturday, May 25, to reports of a fire on the first floor of a three-story building. Crews moved into the four-unit apartment and quickly put out the blaze before it could spread to other units.  Five people were hurt in the fire.
