Pair Of Tropical Systems Threaten To Become Next Named Storm Of Hurricane Season
Forecasters are monitoring a pair of systems in the tropics that could develop into named storms. One system, called Invest 94L, is now in the Central Atlantic, and expected to pass near the Virgin Islands and Puerto Rico on Friday, Oct. 18, and then move toward the Turks and Caicos or the Dominican Republic this weekend, according to the National Hurricane Center. Person From Virginia Third To Die From Listeria Outbreak Linked To Boar's Head Deli Meat
A person from Virginia has become the third person to die during an ongoing Listeria food poisoning outbreak linked to millions of pounds of Boar's Head deli meats that were recalled. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) issued an update on Thursday, Aug. 8 advising that there have been nine more cases reported in connection to the recall, bringing the total to 43 hospitalized - three of which who died, including one from Virginia. Teen Accused Of Fatal Shooting At Lynn Grocery Store Caught In Dominican Republic: DA
A teenager accused of fatally shooting a 17-year-old at a Market Basket parking lot in Lynn last month and fled the country has been caught and will be returned to Massachusetts to face charges, authorities announced. Adrian Pena, 18, was arrested in the Dominican Republic on July 16 and has been extradited to Miami on a fugitive from justice warrant, the Essex County District Attorney's Office said on Tuesday, July 23.
