A devastating seven-alarm fire that tore through two buildings on Union Street in Southbridge last month was intentionally set, state fire officials said. Brush Fire Spreads To Multiple Homes In Western Mass
A small brush fire in Berkshire County Friday afternoon, Nov. 8, spread to multiple homes, causing major damage, authorities said. Firefighters were called to 8-10 Scammell Avenue in Pittsfield just before 4:30 p.m. after a bushfire leaped onto a two-family home and a large deck at nearby 15 Draper Ave., authorities said. Firefighters Battle Train Fire In Western Mass Overnight
Firefighters in Palmer were called to a train engine fire earlier Sunday morning, May 19, which posed a unique problem. Crews rushed to the scene just before 4 a.m. to a train stopped by Park Street that had caught fire. Firefighters had to use dry chemical extinguishers rather than hoses until they could be sure the power had been cut.
