'Our Village Is Broken': MA Remembers Dad Killed In Snowmobile Crash A 37-year-old father of daughters is being remembered as a devoted, hard-working man who touched the lives of everyone he knew following his death earlier this week. Derek Graves, of Chesterfield, died in a snowmobile crash around 1:30 a.m. Sunday, Dec. 8, according to the Northwestern District Attorney's Office. An avid snowmobiler, Graves, who also has ties to Northampton, crashed near Smith Road in Chesterfield. 29-Year-Old With 'Gentle Loving Heart' ID'd As Man Found In Connecticut River A 29-year-old man from western Massachusetts and law clerk for the State of New Jersey has been identified as the person police pulled from the Connecticut River earlier this week.  Daniel Esrick, a Northampton native, was found Monday, Nov. 25, near the Gill side of Route 2, the Northwestern District Attorney's Office said. Man Hit, Killed In Western Mass. Shopping Center Parking Lot A 77-year-old man was hit and killed walking through a Western Massachusetts shopping center parking lot this weekend.  The man, whose name was not released, was hit around 4 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 23, at the Big Y Plaza on North King Street in Northampton, the Northwestern District Attorney's Office said.  The driver remained at the scene.  The cause of the crash is under investigation. No charges have been filed in the case.

Western Mass Man Pleads Guilty To Killing His Roommate, Sentenced To Life In Prison A 27-year-old Massachusetts man admitted in court on Wednesday, Sept. 25, that he fatally stabbed his roommate two years ago, authorities said.  Devin Bryden, 27, of Northampton, pleaded guilty to second-degree murder in the slaying of Jana Abromowitz, 21, in July 2022 the Northwestern District Attorney said. A judge sentenced him to life in prison.  Bryden was accused of stabbing Abromowitz at their shared home at 11 Hatfield St. after a friend found the woman's body after she didn't show up for work, the prosecutor said.
