Northern Lights Dazzle Mass. Residents Residents across the Northeast were dazzled by the Northern Lights, visible Thursday evening, Oct. 10. The purple and pink lights were visible due to a Solar Storm, or a Coronal Mass Ejection from the sun on Tuesday, Oct. 8 which arrived in the area Thursday. "I got a text from a friend about 30 minutes ago," said Joe Jenkins, of Poughkeepsie, NY, "so I ran out and looked due north. You couldn’t miss it." The United States Marine Corps shared in an announcement on Saturday, June 11, the identities of the marines who died when the MV-22B Osprey crashed on Wednesday, June 8 in the California desert.
