Duo Accused Of Torching Springfield Shed During Eviction Dispute; Home Also Damaged In Blaze
Two people who were being evicted from a home in Springfield set fire to a shed on the property, damaging the house and destroying the other structure, police said.
Nelson Martins, 51, of Ludlow, and Wendy Champagne, 47, of Ware, were arrested in Ware on Wednesday, May 21, and charged with the March 1 blaze, Springfield Police said.
Firefighters were called to a fire on Kamuda Street in Springfield on March 1 and found a shed ablaze and flames leaping onto the nearby home.

Mass Company Issues Recall On 30K Blankets, Throws Over Burn, Fire Concerns
The Consumer Product Safety Commission has issued a recall on nearly 30,000 Berkshire Blanket & Home Company heated throws and blankets over issues with overheating that pose fire or burn risks.
The Ware-based company's blankets were sold under its name and the L.L. Bean brand, where they are sold in stores. The CPSC said in its recall notice that they were also sold at Army and Air Force Exchange Service, Amazon.com, Target.com, Macys.com, and QVC.com.

State Police Conduct Water Search For Missing 57-Year-Old Man From Ware
State Police scoured the waters of a reservoir in Central Massachusetts for a 57-year-old man who has been missing for several days.
Jeffrey Allard, of Ware, was last seen in the Farm Road/Cook Lane area after leaving Marlborough Hospital, on Sunday morning, Jan. 22, state and local police report.
Allard is described as a White male, standing 6-foot-1, weighing 170 pounds with short brown curly hair and brown eyes.
