A 42-year-old man is accused of crashing a stolen car into a family, killing a 10-year-old boy, and sending several others to the hospital in Norfolk County this weekend, authorities said. Michael Escolas, of Oxford, is expected to be charged with motor vehicular manslaughter — OUI, theft of a vehicle, and others, the Norfolk County District Attorney said. Fundraiser For Family Of Waltham Officer Killed In Line Of Duty Created
A fundraiser has been created for the family of a Waltham police officer who was killed in the line of duty earlier this month in a hit-and-run crash that left another person dead and two others hospitalized. Officer Paul Tracey was killed on Dec. 6 while managing traffic at a National Grid job site. Utility employee Roderick "Kito" Jackson was also killed when a man crashed into them and kept driving. Danelo Cavalcante has somehow slipped by the hundreds of law enforcement officers in Pennsylvania and neighboring states searching for him in the Longwood Gardens, and though authorities believe he is still in Pennsylvania, they are now describing the search as a "nationwide" manhunt. Man Stole Truck With Baby Inside Then Left Child On Boston Sidewalk
A man stole a truck with a toddler inside in Boston on Friday, July 14, and left the child on the sidewalk a short time later, police said. The child's parents called police just before 3 p.m. after they got out of their truck at 430 Geneva Ave. to tend to the toddler, Boston police said. That's when a man jumped into the driver's seat and sped away toward Bowdoin Street with the child still inside. Three people tried getting away after stealing a car in Franklin but were unsuccessful, according to authorities. A woman called police saying someone tried breaking into her car that was parked in her driveway at 418 Partridge Street around 1:11 a.m. on Thursday, Nov. 17, Franklin Police said on Facebook.
