Police K-9 And His Trooper Recover After Hopkinton Car Crashed Into Cruiser
A Massachusetts State Trooper and his police dog who were hospitalized after being struck by a vehicle on the interstate are expected to recover, authorities say. The car crash occurred while State Trooper Ken Hanchett and his K-9 partner Orry were on duty protecting a construction crew on I-495 in Hopkinton in the afternoon of Monday, Dec. 19, the State Police Association of Massachusetts said on Facebook. Two people have died following a wrong-way crash involving several vehicles on a major route in Central Massachusetts, authorities said. Massachusetts State Trooper Trainee Accidentally Shoots Himself In The Leg
A trainee at the Massachusetts State Police Academy is in the hospital after accidentally shooting himself in the leg, an MSP spokesperson said. The trainee accidentally discharged his firearm during a training exercise at the academy in New Braintree on the morning of Wednesday, July 6. the spokesperson said. The trainee was treated at UMass Medical Center for a non-life-threatening injury and is expected to return to training Thursday, the spokesperson added. The incident remains under investigation.
