Tornado Confirmed In Massachusetts As Severe Storms Batter Northeast
A fast-moving round of severe storms swept through the Northeast, spawning a rare tornado in New England and leaving a trail of downed trees, power outages, and canceled events in its wake.
The National Weather Service confirmed that the twister touched down in Holden, Massachusetts, located northwest of Worcester, late Saturday afternoon, Sept. 6, as part of an intense line of storms that moved across about a dozen states.
It was rated an EF-1 twister, the second weakest of the six levels on the Enhanced Fujita damage scale.

Tornado Watch Issued For Much Of Region, With 60 MPH Wind Gusts, Hail Also Possible
As a slow-moving storm system barrels through the Northeast, a Tornado Watch has now been issued for much of the region until 3 p.m. Sunday, July 16.
It includes parts of southeastern New York -- Long Island, as well as Westchester, and Putnam counties -- as well as all eight counties in Connecticut, and the following counties in Massachusetts: Berkshire, Essex, Franklin, Hampden, Hampshire, Middlesex, and Worcester.

Rapid Freeze To Follow New Round Of Rain, Gusty Winds As Cold Front Arrives
A new round of rain and wind from a massive storm system will accompany a cold front that will push through the region Friday afternoon, Dec. 23, leading to a dramatic drop in temperatures, according to the National Weather Service.
With blizzard-like conditions in much of the Midwest, more than 1,000 flights have been canceled as of early Thursday morning. Nationally, over there have been over a million power outages.
