A community is coming together to help pay for the funeral costs of a beloved Eastern Massachusetts father whose skeletal remains were found in a wooded area months after he went missing. Officials have identified the remains found in a wooded area in Saugus on Sunday, Feb. 18, as a 53-year-old Haverhill father who went missing in July. John Lawler's remains were found in a wooded area near David Drive by a person walking their dog, the Essex County District Attorney said. Lawler was last heard from in July when he left the Salvation Army rehab center on Broadway in Saugus to purchase fishing supplies, reports said. Smokers may think nothing of emptying an ash tray, but the simple act resulted in the complete destruction of a Haverhill home, according to authorities. Firefighters arrived at a Coffin Avenue house on Monday, Dec. 27 around 7:45 a.m. to heavy smoke and flames exuding from the building, according to the State Department of Fire Services. Cleanup is underway after a massive water main break in downtown Lowell forced hundreds of residents out of their homes, reports said. Lowell Police reported the break in the area of Moody Street and Cabot Street near Father Morrissette Boulevard around 5 p.m. on Monday, Nov. 28, according to their Twitter. A robber ruined National Donut Day at some stores in New England when he allegedly made off with tip jars and cash from multiple shops.
