MLB Suspends Former Jersey Shore HS Star For Betting On Baseball Games
A minor league pitcher from the Jersey Shore was suspended for a year for betting on Major League Baseball games, officials said. Barnegat native Jay Groome was among five players punished under MLB's sports betting rules and policies, the league said in a news release on Tuesday, June 4. Groome made three starts in the 2024 season for the El Paso Chihuahuas, the Triple-A affiliate of the San Diego Padres. Netflix is shipping up to Boston. The popular streaming service has announced two projects with the Boston Red Sox, one of Major League Baseball's most storied franchises. Netflix will follow the Red Sox throughout the entire season, providing viewers a window into the ups and downs in one of the most rabid sports environments, Netflix said in a news release.
