A 35-year-old man who was fatally shot in broad daylight in Boston near a local non-profit organization was a father and stepfather to several children, his family says. Elijah Pinckney, of Dorchester, was fatally shot in the area of Harvard and Paxton Streets around 1:13 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 9, Boston Police report. Authorities have identified a man who was shot during Boston's Caribbean Carnival as 33-year-old Derrell Russell of Brighton. Russell was shot in the area of 970 Blue Hill Avenue in Dorchester around 5:41 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 27, Boston Police said. He was taken to a local hospital where he later died. Authorities are investigating after a person was shot to death in the late afternoon in Boston.
