Cotton Candy Makers Ignite Sugar, Sparking Large Recall
Thousands of cotton candy makers are being recalled after a dozen reports of sparking and fire. Wuensche USA issued the recall for about 21,690 Ambiano Cotton Candy Makers, the Consumer Product Safety Commission said on Thursday, Sept. 18. The heating element can cause sugar to ignite if the machine is used without the included sugar receptacle, posing a fire hazard. Wuensche has received 12 reports of sparking or fire. Man Battles Yacht Blaze Until Firefighters Can Finish Off Job In Newburyport
A nearby boat owner at an Essex County yacht club helped keep a blaze at bay until firefighters could arrive, officials said. A 42-foot yacht at the Newburyport Yacht Club, located at 300 Merrimack Street, caught on fire before 10:20 p.m. on Sunday, Aug. 20, according to the Newburyport Fire Department. The owner of another boat noticed the fire and called 911 before taking the initiative and grabbing a fire extinguisher to help battle back the blaze. Microwave Determined As Cause Of Doubly Fatal New Bedford Fire
A catastrophic fire that resulted in two deaths had an accidental start from a common household appliance, officials say. The cause of a fire that decimated an apartment building located on Acushnet Avenue in New Bedford on Tuesday, March 28 has been determined to be an accident involving either a microwave or the wall outlet the microwave was plugged into, according to the Massachusetts Department of Fire Services.
