A convicted drug felon with a GPS tracking system around his ankle found himself running in with the law once again, authorities said. Edwin Harrison, age 43, of Springfield, was slapped with several charges after he was arrested following a drug deal in the city around 8 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 30, Springfield Police report. Chelsea police have increased their presence around Congress, Shawmut, and Maverick streets as officers have noticed an uptick in drug crimes there. Investigators arrested a 37-year-old man on drug and gun charges over the weekend. Woman Busted With Fentanyl, Crack As Chelsea Police Boost Drug Operations
Chelsea police officials said they noticed a recent increase in drug activity in a neighborhood, so they upped their patrols there. Authorities say that strategy is paying dividends after officers arrested a woman last week with fentanyl and crack. Erica Muniz Rivera, 31, was arrested on Friday, Nov. 4, after a traffic stop, Chelsea police said.
