Peabody Man Seriously Injured After Crashing Into Tree In Danvers
A 34-year-old Peabody man was taken to a trauma center after crashing his SUV into a tree in Danvers. The man, whose name was not released, went off the road about a half mile from the Route 62 exit of Route 1. He was the only person in the 2018 Jeep Grand Cherokee. Paramedics rushed him to Beverly Hospital and later to Lahey Hospital in Burlington. A lane on Route 1 was closed for more than an hour as police cleaned, cleared, and investigated the crash. It's unclear what caused the man to go off the road.

Joseph M. Hurley Shot Woman, Fired At Danvers Police: DA
A 62-year-old man has been charged with attempting to kill a woman he shot multiple times on Monday, Feb. 5, before barricading himself inside a trailer in Danvers, authorities said. Joseph M. Hurley, of Danvers, is charged with armed assault with intent to murder, three counts of assault with a dangerous weapon, and unlawful possession of a firearm and ammunition, the Essex County District Attorney said. 2 Elderly, 1 Officer Hospitalized In 3-Alarm Rockport Fire
Two elderly people as well as a police officer suffered injuries during a fire that broke out at a home in Rockport, officials said. The fire started shortly after 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 17, on the second floor of a home at 74 Phillips Ave., according to the Rockport Fire Department. A police officer and a good Samaritan managed to save two elderly residents from the burning building. DoorDash Driver Gets Dunked After Finding Hole In Massachusetts GPS System: Police
A DoorDash driver on a Dunkin Donuts run in Essex County crashed into a body of water because their GPS gave them bad directions, they told police. The unnamed driver called authorities just after 11:30 a.m. on Friday, Sept. 22, after they splashed down in a large pool of water in Middleton, Middleton police said. It took firefighters more than 15 minutes to cut a 55-year-old woman from her car after she collided nearly head-on with a cement truck in Essex County Monday afternoon, Aug. 28. Ipswich Man, 70, Killed After Intentionally Stepping In Front Of Train: MBTA
A 70-year-old Ipswich died Tuesday morning, Aug. 16, after authorities said he intentionally stepped in front of an oncoming train. The man was walking along MBTA property off of Linebrook Road around 9 a.m. when he stepped onto the tracks and stood in the way of the train, MBTA officials said in an email to Salem News. He was still alive when officers arrived, and they provided what medical aid they could until paramedics rushed him to Beverly Hospital, where doctors pronounced him dead when he arrived, Ipswich police said. They did not release the man's name.
