The Lynn Fire Department, Lynn Harbormaster and a private boat all facilitated the rescue on the morning of Thursday, Sept. 29, the outlet reports.
All five individuals were safely brought to shore where they were medically evaluated, the Lynn Harbormaster confirmed to Daily Voice. Everyone was wearing life jackets and are expected to be okay.
Temperatures in the Boston area were around 48 degrees Thursday morning, according to the National Weather Service, prompting concern for the group to experience hypothermia.
"They had life vests on, but they were calling for help," Lynn Fire Chief Stephen Archer told NBC Boston. "Obviously, the water is very, very cold and hypothermia is a concern."
No other information was released.
