Central Mass Man Fatally Struck Walking On I-90; Police Close Lanes For Hours A 36-year-old Central Massachusetts man was hit and killed on I-90 in Worcester County this week, police said.  Jayson Bastarache, of Grafton, was struck on the eastbound lanes of the interstate near mile marker 98 around 7 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 22, Massachusetts State Police said.  Police listed Bastarache as a pedestrian, but a bicycle was found near the crash site and footprints nearby. Man Hit, Killed While Crossing Street In Easthampton; Westfield Driver Cooperating With Police A 72-year-old Western Massachusetts man was killed Tuesday evening after being hit by a car in Western Massachusetts, authorities said. The man was crossing Route 10 near 412 Main Street in Easthampton when he was struck around 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 7, according to the Northwestern District Attorney's Office. The victim was from Easthampton.  Authorities did not release his name.  The driver, a 39-year-old Westfield resident, remained at the scene and is cooperating with investigators, the DA's office said. Man Hit, Killed In Western Mass. Shopping Center Parking Lot A 77-year-old man was hit and killed walking through a Western Massachusetts shopping center parking lot this weekend.  The man, whose name was not released, was hit around 4 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 23, at the Big Y Plaza on North King Street in Northampton, the Northwestern District Attorney's Office said.  The driver remained at the scene.  The cause of the crash is under investigation. No charges have been filed in the case.

Woman Hit, Killed Walking In Springfield A woman was hit and killed on Monday morning, June 3, as she walked along a road in Springfield.  The crash was reported around 4:30 a.m. in the 300 block of Wilbraham Road, Springfield police said. The woman died at the scene. Her name was not released as police reached out to her next of kin.  The driver stayed at the scene and spoke with police, investigators said.  No charges have been filed, but police are investigating the cause of the fatal crash.  This is a developing story.
