The supervisor for a luxury jewelry company has admitted to stealing gold, platinum, and silver from his employer to resell illegally for more than three years, earning him more than $1 million, federal authorities said.
Benjamin Preacher, 54, of North Attleboro, pleaded guilty to one count of interstate transportation of stolen goods and one count of engaging in unlawful monetary transactions on Thursday, June 6, the US Attorney for Massachusetts said. He will be sentenced on Sept. 18.

A Bedford woman was arrested and charged with killing her parents on Thursday, June 6, after she told someone she had killed them, authorities said.
Jessica Cavallaro, 24, has been charged with murder, two counts of assault and battery with a dangerous weapon causing serious bodily injuries, and illegal possession of a firearm, the Middlesex District Attorney said.

A former student of Boston College High School said a 62-year-old Jesuit priest and former teacher at the Catholic preparatory school raped him for a year more than a decade ago, authorities said on Wednesday, June 5.
Kevin White, 62, of Weston, was arrested and charged with rape and abuse of a child, the Suffolk County District Attorney said.
The unnamed former student told investigators that White, who was a theology teacher at the high school, sexually abused him from 2008 through 2009, the prosecutor said.

Police have asked residents in Haverhill to be on alert after multiple people spotted a black bear in the Windsor Street, Mill Street, and Lake Saltonstall area.
Haverhill police issued the warning in a Facebook post on Monday, June 3.
Black bears are usually afraid of people, and will likely run away if confronted. However, there is still a risk, and residents should take steps to prevent a close encounter with the animal, Haverhill police said.
