Expect Heavy Traffic In Haverhill, Methuen After Water Main Bursts Causes I-495 Sinkhole: DOT
Massachusetts Department of Transportation officials warn drivers in Haverhill and Methuen to expect heavy delays on Monday and Tuesday, Oct. 7-8, as crews repair a sinkhole on I-495. A water main break beneath the highway opened up the sinkhole just after Exit 106 in the southbound lanes, State Police said, forcing authorities to close two lanes. Troopers said drivers should expect major delays on the interstate through the Methuen-Haverhill corridor and on interchanges at Routes 213, 110, 97, and 125. David "Spanky" Sousa spent his life giving back to the Stoughton community he loved. After he was killed while picking up debris along a highway, they're paying it back to his family. Stoughton Man ID'd As DOT Worker Hit, Killed Picking Up Debris On Mass. Highway
Authorities have identified the 57-year-old Massachusetts Department of Transportation worker who was hit and killed Saturday night, July 27, while picking up debris along Route 24 in West Bridgewater. David "Spanky" Sousa, of Stoughton, was struck around 9:30 p.m. while working on the side of the northbound lane near Ext 28B, The Plymouth County District Attorney's Office said. Sousa is a husband and father who has served as a former Stoughton Select Board chairman. The driver who struck him remained at the scene, the prosecutor's office said. Their name was not released…
