Expect Heavy Traffic In Haverhill, Methuen After Water Main Bursts Causes I-495 Sinkhole: DOT Massachusetts Department of Transportation officials warn drivers in Haverhill and Methuen to expect heavy delays on Monday and Tuesday, Oct. 7-8, as crews repair a sinkhole on I-495.  A water main break beneath the highway opened up the sinkhole just after Exit 106 in the southbound lanes, State Police said, forcing authorities to close two lanes. Troopers said drivers should expect major delays on the interstate through the Methuen-Haverhill corridor and on interchanges at Routes 213, 110, 97, and 125.  Officials expect to have the water main repaired Monday night. 71-Year-Old West Wareham Man Killed In Four-Car Middleborough Crash On I-495 A 71-year-old man was killed on Friday, Aug. 2, in a four-vehicle wreck that began when a tractor-trailer crashed into traffic as it slowed down, authorities said.  Police were called to the crash around 11:30 a.m. on I-495 near Exit 12. A preliminary investigation found the tractor-trailer — for reasons unknown — slammed into the back of three vehicles, including a GMC Terrain being driven by a 71-year-old West Wareham man, State police said.  Paramedics rushed the man to an area hospital, but doctors could not save his life. Police Looking For Truck That Slammed Into Mansfield Fire Engine On I-495, Sped Away State police are asking for the public's help to identify a tractor-trailer that crashed into a Mansfield fire truck on I-495 over the weekend and drove away.  The hit-and-run crash happened around 4:30 a.m. on the southbound lanes near Exit 27 in Norton. Fire Engine 33 was being used to block traffic as police cleaned and investigated a car crash that happened earlier that morning, troopers said.  A tractor-trailer truck crashed into the side of the fire engine, causing significant damage to the municipal vehicle.
