Robert Redford, the Oscar-winning actor-director who helped redefine American movie stardom and built the Sundance movement into a global force for independent film, has died. He was 89. Cindi Berger, chief executive of Rogers & Cowan PMK, said Redford died peacefully in his sleep early Tuesday, Sept. 16, at his Utah home; no cause was disclosed.
