Newly Minted Millionaire: Central Mass Winner Has Big Plans For $2.5M Lottery Payday A Massachusetts man said he plans to travel and buy a new car after he won a $2.5 million jackpot in the state lottery.  Kirk Phinney, of Leominster, won the seven-figure sum playing the “$2,500,000 Merry & Bright,” a  $10 holiday-themed scratch-off game. Related: Holbrook Woman Plans To Live Out Lottery Winners' Dream Phinney elected to take the annuity payments of $125,000 (before taxes) a year for 20 years.  He bought the ticket at Quick Stop Liquor, 531 N Main St. in Leominster. The store will receive a $25,000 bonus for the sale.

Police ID Central Mass Teen Killed In Crash Near Market Basket Store The 13-year-old Massachusetts boy who was hit and killed by a truck near a Market Basket in Worcester County has been identified.  Ezra Millard, of Leominster, was hit near the Sack Boulevard store in Leominster just after 6 p.m. on Monday, Jan. 6, the Worcester District Attorney's Office said.  Ezra was a student at Skyview Middle School. The driver of the 2018 Chevrolet Silverado stayed on the scene following the crash and was cooperating with investigators, authorities said. The truck is registered in Maine.  Ezra's father, John Millard, posted shortly after their death …

Central Mass Man Tried To Bring Gun Into Leominster Hospital: Police A 27-year-old man was arrested after security at a Worcester County hospital said he tried to bring a gun into the building and made threats when he wasn't allowed in, authorities said.  Darius Webb, of Holden, was barred from entering UMass Memorial Health HealthAlliance — Clinton Hospital on Monday afternoon, June 24, after authorities spotted the firearm during a security screening, Leominster police.
