Anthony Rodriguez, of Puerto Rico, pleaded guilty to statutory rape of a child, assault and battery, and indecent assault and battery on a person 14 or older, in the New Year's Day attack, the Northwestern District Attorney's Office said.
Rodriguez must register as a sex offender, undergo sex offender treatment, and serve five years of probation once he's released, the prosecutor said.
Assistant District Attorneys Andrew Covington and Jillian Parent prosecuted the case and said the victim and her family supported the plea agreement.
“Victims of sexual assault are encouraged to report these crimes to the police,” Covington said. “We want to thank the Athol Police Department and Sergeant Doug Kaczmarcyk for their hard work in helping bring Mr. Rodriguez to justice.”
The victim reported the assault in January 2023, and police arrested Rodriguez in Puerto Rico three months later.
