Man Seriously Injured After Hit By Commuter Rail Train Near Chelsea: Police

A man was hospitalized after he was struck by a Commuter Rail train on the near Chelsea, authorities said.

The man was struck by a train on 2nd Street around 2:50 p.m. on Monday, March 13, Superintendent of Transit Police Richard Sullivan told Daily Voice. 

He was taken to the hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries. 

Initial investigation suggests crossing safety/warning equipment was working properly at the time of the accident, Sullivan added. 

Shuttle busses were replacing service and Passengers were told to consider alternate travel options as a result. 

Authorities do not believe foul play was involved. The investigation is ongoing. People can get service updates by following MBTA_CR on Twitter.
