At least eight recent fires that destroyed over 400 acres of land in Lynn Woods were intentionally set, the state fire marshal announced on Wednesday, May 17. Rowley Man Dies In 3-Alarm Fire, Cause Under Investigation
A three-alarm fire claimed the life of a man who became the sixth older adult to die in a house fire in the past three weeks, officials say. A passerby spotted smoke emanating from a home at 2 Railroad Avenue around 4:10 a.m. on Friday, April 21, according to the Rowley Fire Department. A catastrophic fire that resulted in two deaths had an accidental start from a common household appliance, officials say. The cause of a fire that decimated an apartment building located on Acushnet Avenue in New Bedford on Tuesday, March 28 has been determined to be an accident involving either a microwave or the wall outlet the microwave was plugged into, according to the Massachusetts Department of Fire Services.
