Social Media Fail: Boston Felon Back In Prison After Viral Upload, Feds Say
Social media has the power to turn someone into a hero, a villain, a star, or a prisoner. That's something one Boston felon found out this week when he was convicted of a crime he documented on Snapchat. Dane Mitchell, 32, of Boston and Revere, pleaded guilty to illegal possession of a firearm with an obliterated serial number, the US Attorney for Massachusetts said. He was out on supervised release from a 2018 firearms conviction and is not allowed to have a gun. Malden Man Accused Of Shooting At Car With Toddler Inside Going To Prison On Gun, Drug Charges
A 22-year-old accused of trafficking drugs and flaunting his cash and machine guns in a YouTube video will spend more than six years in federal prison, authorities said. Phillips Charles, also known as PHON C, pleaded guilty to several drug and gun charges in April and was sentenced earlier this month to six and a half years in prison with four years of supervised release, the U.S. Attorney's Office said.
