A 21-year-old Lowell found guilty of the fatal shooting of a man over online comments was sentenced to 20 years behind bars on Tuesday, May 28, authorities said.
Timmy Chan, 21, of Lowell, was convicted of second-degree murder, carrying a firearm without a license, carrying a loaded firearm without a license, possession of ammunition without a permit, and discharging a firearm within 500 feet of a dwelling in connection, the Middlesex District Attorney said.

A Boston man accused of taking part in a rolling shootout in moving cars was found guilty on multiple gun charges, authorities said.
Che Meranda, 31, of Boston, drove through North Cambridge in August 2021, exchanging shots with another man along Pemberton and Middlesex streets with his two young children in the car, the Middlesex District Attorney's Office said.
