Gianni Williams-Johnson, 24, of Dorchester, and Michah Ennis, 24, of South Boston, are charged in the shooting that happened near 70 Ames Street in Dorchester, according to the Suffolk County District Attorney’s Office.

They are charged with:

  • Five counts of armed assault with intent to murder
  • One count of assault and battery with a dangerous weapon causing serious bodily injury
  • Four counts of assault and battery with a dangerous weapon
  • Unlawful possession of firearms

Williams-Johnson is also charged with unlawful possession of a machine gun. He is being held in jail as he awaits his court appearance.

Ennis, however, remains on the run. District Attorney Kevin Hayden called on Ennis to turn himself in to authorities:

This was a shocking, reckless barrage of bullets fired into a courtyard where people were gathered and children were playing, and it’s nothing short of a miracle that no one was killed. But a sister and brother happily playing in the courtyard were seriously wounded, causing enormous and ongoing anguish for their family and for the community. I implore Mr. Ennis to turn himself in and face responsibility for this terrible assault on our residents and our neighborhoods.

Juliana Howard, 15, and her younger brother, Johan, 11, were two out of the five people who were wounded in the fusillade. They were playing outside their home as their mom made dinner, authorities said.

Juliana was shot four times, once in the head, and taken to a Boston hospital, where she was in critical condition for two weeks, NBC Boston reported.

Johan was shot in the leg but has since been released from Boston Children’s Hospital, according to a GoFundMe created to help their family with medical expenses.

The campaign raised more than $32,000 for the Howards.

Information on the other victims was not immediately available.
