43-Year-Old Man Hit, Killed By Train In Deerfield
A 43-year-old Western Massachusetts man was killed after he was struck by a train Thursday morning, Nov. 21, authorities said. The unnamed Deerfield man was hit around 8 a.m. on the tracks on South Main Street near Thayer Road, the Northwestern District Attorney's Office said. The cause of the crash remains under investigation. According to Amtrak, the Valley Flyer Train 471 was traveling from Greenfield to New Haven. A Berkshire County father of two young children was identified as the victim of a fatal train strike Tuesday morning, July 30, authorities said. Douglas Hawley, age 40, of North Adams, was killed just before 11:30 a.m. after being hit by the train in North Adams, the Berkshire County District Attorney's Office said. Original: A woman was struck and killed by a train in Franklin County on Monday, June 10.
