A third person has died from injuries sustained in the deadly explosion that tore through a Bucks County nursing home just before Christmas, as survivors filed the first lawsuit on Monday, Jan. 5, alleging the catastrophe was preventable and caused by widespread negligence. The third victim was identified as Patricia Mero, 66, a resident of the facility, according to the Bucks County Coroner’s Office. Fatal Chicopee Fire Kills 1, Displaces 7 Others
A deadly fire in Western Massachusetts this week claimed the life of one person and left seven others without shelter. The fire broke out at a multifamily house on the corner of Artisan and Chicopee streets in Chicopee on Tuesday, March 11, around 4 p.m., the State Fire Marshal's Office said. When Chicopee firefighters arrived at the scene, they were told one person had escaped the flames, but an adult who had remained inside to try and contain the blaze had died. 1 Dead, Another Hospitalized Following Late-Night Western Mass. Fire
Firefighters were called to a house fire around 11:15 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 13, at 52 Silver St. in Greenfield with reports of multiple people trapped inside, the Massachusetts Fire Marshal said. Greenfield firefighters beat back flames before they could make it inside. Once they did they found one person dead and two others suffering injuries. Authorities did not release the victim's name.
