Two Rescued After Small Plane Crashes Into Water Near Remote Island, Coast Guard Says Two people were pulled from the water in Connecticut after a plane went down off the coast near the Thimble Islands on Sunday morning, according to the US Coast Guard. Their aircraft went down in the water southeast of the Thimble Islands, near Branford, the US Coast Guard said in a statement on June 1. The Coast Guard Station in New Haven responded to the crash site in the Long Island Sound and pulled both survivors from the water.  Officials said the victims were in stable condition and were taken to Stony Creek Pier, where EMS crews were standing by to provide first aid. Anthony Andrew Esposito Jr., of Branford, was charged with murder with special circumstances and attempted murder following the Thursday, May 1, attack. He is being held on $3 million bond, police said. Officers responded to a home on Hemlock Rock Road around 4 p.m., where they found the body of 12-year-old Anthony P.
