Timothy Mortell won $1 million in the “$2,500,000 Merry & Bright," a $10 scratch-off game.
Mortell chose to take the lump sum payment of $650,000 (before taxes) rather than the annuity.
He said he plans to share the winnings with his mom and invest the rest.
Mortell bought the winning ticket at Yazzy’s Market at 810 Meadow St. in Chicopee. The store will get a $10,000 bonus for the sale.
