William D. Walling Jr. was sentenced Tuesday, March 11, to life in prison for the fatal beating and strangulation of his father, William D. Walling Sr., the Norfolk County District Attorney’s Office announced. He will be eligible for parole in 25 years.

Walling Jr. also received a concurrent 19- to 20-year prison sentence on a related charge, the prosecutor said.

Family members called 911 on May 16, 2020, after arriving at the men's Lochmere Avenue home to discover Walling Sr. lying in a pool of blood on his bedroom floor — a plastic bag still strapped to his head, allegedly used to suffocate him, authorities said.

They found Walling Jr. in a nearby room, watching television, according to a police report obtained by The Patriot Ledger
