A former Middlesex County police detective admitted to lying and submitting false paperwork to get an apartment and then stiffing his landlord on payments, federal authorities said. Over two dozen 911 calls reported seven utility poles falling over simultaneously, an incident which caused one person to be trapped in his vehicle, officials say. Firefighters rescued a paraplegic man after multiple calls reported a house on fire and the sound of gunshots, officials say. A fire broke out on 590 Main Street in Stoneham around 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, Feb. 23, rendering the house a "total loss," the Stoneham Fire Department told Daily Voice.
