An almost 50-year-old murder case is being reviewed by modern-day detectives who hope someone will step up with information that could finally identify the circumstances of the homicide, officials say. A body found on August 23, 1975 in the Madison Park area was determined to be 61-year-old Ruth Bayla Pearson, of Newton, according to the Boston Police Department. Newton Rescue Crews Pull Crashed Car Out Of Cheesecake Brook After Driver Loses Control: Cops
Newton police are asking the public to drive carefully after a car crashed into Cheesecake Brook just after 6:30 a.m. Friday morning and had to be pulled out of the water. Witnesses told police the driver was speeding at the time of the crash and lost control, Newton police said in a Facebook post. The speed limit in that area is 30 miles per hour because of the nearby middle school and high-pedestrian traffic. Luckily, the driver escaped with minor injuries, but they did receive several charges. Authorities did not release their name.

: 18-Year-Old Newton Man Killed In Needham Rollover Crash
A 18-year-old man from Newton was killed in a two-car rollover crash in Needham, authorities said. Dylan Newman died in the crash that happened in the area of Forest Street and Rolling Lane around 4:25 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 12, Needham Police said on Facebook. He was pronounced dead at a local hospital. Another driver was also injured and taken to a local hospital for treatment, police added. The crash is under investigation and there are currently no charges.

Newton Woman Swindled $40K From Ex-Landlord Before Killing Him: DA
A 47-year-old Newton woman beat her friend and former landlord to death earlier this week after he confronted her about stealing $40,000 from him, prosecutors said. Xiu Fang Ke will be arraigned Wednesday afternoon, Sept. 28, in the killing of 65-year-old Leonard Garber, Middlesex District Attorney Marian Ryan announced during a press conference.
