450 Patients File Lawsuit Against Salem Hospital After Potential Exposure To HIV, Hepatitis
Patients have filed a class-action lawsuit against Salem Hospital after nearly 450 of them say they were potentially exposed to HIV and hepatitis through their IVs. Endoscopy patients at Salem Hospital “were potentially exposed to infection due to the administration of their intravenous medication in a manner not consistent with our best practice,” the hospital said in a statement to the Daily Voice. The man who committed a "random act of violence" against a hospital shuttle bus driver has been arrested, officials say. Charles Wilkerson Jr., 27, was arrested around 9:00 p.m. on Wednesday, March 29 after turning himself into police for stabbing a Mass General Brigham shuttle bus driver in the area of 3841 Washington Street in Roslindale earlier that same day, according to the Boston Police Department.
