Shots Fired Outside Lynn Middle School During Basketball Tourney: Police
Organizers of the Shoe City Basketball Tournament decided to cancel the event after a 25-year-old man fired several shots in the parking lot of a middle school where they were holding it on Friday, Aug. 5, authorities said.
Canseco Morillo, 25, is accused of firing multiple times as he ran away from Thurgood Marshall Middle School just after 10:30 p.m., Lynn police said. 2 Women Charged With Embezzling $130K From Chelsea Credit Union: Prosecutor
Authorities accused two women of stealing $130,000 from their former employer — Metro Credit Union — in Chelsea, the Suffolk County District Attorney said.
Morelia Juma, age 25, of Lynn, and Erna Sejdinvovic, age 26, of Malden, were indicted on theft and embezzlement charges on Thursday, July 21, the office said.
Bank employees noticed in February that Sejdinvovic funneled fraudulent rebates from the credit union's general ledger into Juma's account, prosecutors said.

Massachusetts Man, 21, Dies Day After Pulled From North Shore Lake
A young man who was pulled from a lake on the North Shore has died a day later, authorities said.
Maynor Salas Lopez, age 21, of Lynn, was pulled from Silver Lake in Breakheart Reservation in Saugus around 5 p.m. on Sunday, July 17, Massachusetts State Police said.
After performing CPR on Lopez, he was taken to a local hospital in critical condition. He died the next morning, police said.
Lopez was apparently swimming with his family when he started to struggle in the water, authorities said. The incident remains under investigation.
Fentanyl, Crack Seized From Boston-Area Man Following 'Lengthy Police Investigation'
A "lengthy police investigation" just outside Boston has resulted in the arrest of a man from Lynn on multiple drug trafficking-related charges, authorities said.
Police seized multiple controlled illegal substances from Victor Martinez, age 22, during his arrest on Thursday, June 23, Winthrop Police said.
Some of the items seized included 160 grams of Fentanyl, 22 grams of crack cocaine, $2,500 in cash, a .22 caliber firearm, .45 caliber ammunition and two pistol magazines, police said.
