Drunk Driver Charged With Hitting 2 Houses In Hopkinton
A drunk driver is facing multiple charges after police say he hit two homes with his van in Hopkinton, leaving one uninhabitable, police said. Stephen Murphy, 52, of Hopkinton, hit two homes with his van at 75 and 77 Grove St. before driving away from the area shortly before 3 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 4. Officers stopped the car driven by Murphy and arrested him shortly after, police said. First responders arrived at the two homes to find one of them with significant damage to a load-bearing wall. A young man drowned in a Middlesex County lake, leaving behind a mourning family. The body of Wilinson J. Orbequito, age 21, of Hopkinton, was recovered from Lake Maspenock in Hopkinton on Saturday, July 22, according to the Hopkinton Police Department. Orbequito had gone swimming at Sandy Beach one day earlier and never return. A former deputy police chief is facing charges for allegedly assaulting a 15-year-old student multiple times while working as a school resource officer, authorities say. John “Jay” Porter, a former Hopkinton deputy chief of police, was indicted on three charges of rape of a child on Monday, May 1, according to Middlesex County District Attorney Marian Ryan. Massachusetts Deputy Police Chief Under Investigation On Administrative Leave
A deputy police chief who is under investigation has been placed on administrative, authorities said. Hopkinton Police Chief Joseph Bennett said Deputy Police Chief John Porter, who has been with the department since 1992, was placed on leave on Saturday, Aug. 27. According to a release, Bennett learned about Porter's status on Thursday. No other information was released.
