Update - Western Mass Shooting: Infant Dies Shortly After Birth, Mom In Critical Condition This story has been updated. An infant died shortly after being delivered following a Hampden County shooting just before 1 p.m., Wednesday, Oct. 4 in in Holyoke at the intersection of Maple and Sargeant Streets. A pregnant woman was transported to a nearby hospital in critical condition. The infant, who was delivered, and needed life-saving medical services, tragically died, according to the Hampden District Attorney’s Office, All involved suspects are believed to have been identified and transported to nearby hospitals and are in custody, the DA's Offoce said. …

Bicyclist In Holyoke Hit-And-Run Dies At 22: Family The 22-year-old Lawrence man who was injured in a hit and run in Holyoke earlier this month has died, his family announced on a fundraiser.  Jorge Meeswee Calderon was hit near the intersection of Cabot and Canal streets just before 8 p.m. on Jan. 5, Holyoke police said. The driver of the vehicle sped away before officers arrived.  Paramedics rushed Calderon to an area hospital, but after days of work, doctors were not able to save him, his family said on a GoFundMe.  Calderon was a North Andover High School graduate who was an up-and-coming barber at Style and Gra…

18 Casings Found On Roadway After Shots-Fired Incident In Western Mass Authorities in Western Massachusetts are looking for answers after multiple bullet casings were found on main road.  Police received several calls of automatic gunfire in Holyoke in the area of 85 Lower Westfield Road around 2 a.m. on Tuesday, June 15, Holyoke Police said.  Upon arrival, officers found 18 spend casings on the road. No injuries or property damage was initially reported, police said. The investigation is ongoing. Anyone with information is asked to contact police at (413)322-6900. Fight Breaks Out At Key Foods Store In Western Mass One man was arrested for fleeing from police and having a loaded gun following a fight with another man at a grocery store in Western Massachusetts. The incident took place in Hampden County around 5:45 p.m., Thursday, June 2 at the Key Foods in Holyoke located at 13 Cabot St. Police responded to the store after receiving a complaint of two men involved in a fight, with one having a gun, said Capt.
