The “‘Home for the Holidays’ Adoptathon” is a response to new data from Shelter Animals Count, which showed 96,000 dogs across the country were expected to be euthanized because they couldn’t find a forever home. 'Unstoppable' Puppy Makes Cross-Country Trek For Lifesaving Surgery In Mass
A homeless puppy who was literally facing life or death traveled from Arizona to Massachusetts for a surgery that ended up saving her, animal rescue officials said. Valentina, a 12-week-old Chocolate Lab, was surrendered to a private veterinary practice in Arizona, the MSCPA-Angell reports. The puppy was unable to keep food down and was later diagnosed with vascular ring anomaly. The rare disorder results in the entrapment and constriction of the esophagus and requires corrective surgery so that dogs can eat, the agency said.
