Sex Assault Suspect, Armed Robber Arrested In Ramsey, Mahwah Thanks To Brand-New Task Force
Two New York men wanted in separate violent crimes were tracked down last month in Bergen County, thanks to the county's newly-launched Crime Suppression Team, authorities said.
The first arrest was made on Saturday, Dec. 21, when members of the team identified 51-year-old Randolph R. Smith of Far Rockaway, NY, who was wanted in connection with an armed robbery that occurred in New York City, Bergen County Prosecutor Mark Musella said. Smith was spotted in the Ramsey area, and when confronted by the Crime Suppression Team, he provided a false name to investigators, Musella said.

Chris Bernard, a Bergen County, NJ dad, former Adelphi University Hall of Fame basketball store and CEO who once worked in a VP role for the NY Knicks, has died. He was 47 years old.
As of Wednesday, Jan. 8, more than $220,000 had been raised on a GoFundMe launched to support Chris' wife, Amanda, and their three children, Roman, Jude, and Chloe, of Englewood. The campaign was launched by Dan Gladstone, a senior VP at the National Basketball Players Association.

Truck Hauling Asphalt Overturns, 6 Hospitalized In Old Westbury: Police
A truck carrying asphalt overturned at a busy Old Westbury intersection on Tuesday afternoon, Jan. 7, colliding with a school bus and SUV and sending six people, including two children, to the hospital, police said.
The crash occurred at 3:22 p.m. at the intersection of Store Hill Road (LIE North Service Road) and Post Road, according to Old Westbury Police Chief Stuart Cameron.
