Police received a report of a possibly drunk driver in a black Ford 350 pickup truck near 1788 Main Street in Tewksbury around 3:30 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 21, according to the Tewksbury Police Department.
The Ford's driver, Ronald Charette, of Dracut, was found in a parking lot and was arrested after police determined him to be under the influence of alcohol by police.
A search of Charette's vehicle found an unsecured semi-automatic rifle in the back seat of the pickup truck, resulting in additional charges for the Dracut resident.
Charette is charged with the following:
- Carrying a firearm without a license
- Operating under the influence of liquor
- Improper storage of a firearm
- Possession of a large capacity magazine
Charette will be arraigned on Monday, Jan. 23 in Lowell District Court.
