Atwood's Tavern in Cambridge will be closing its doors for the last time on Friday, March 31 following a 16-year run, the restaurant posted on Facebook and on its website.
"This place has been a neighborhood spot and will continue to be," the announcement read. "While we don’t know yet who will be picking up the mantle, we are confident that they will provide the neighborhood with the community space it deserves."
The post did not give a specific reason for Atwood's closure.
The neighborhood spot is known for serving comfort food, offering numerous drinks and hosting talent musicians for years, Boston Restaurant Talk reports.
The restaurant often uses ingredients from other local eateries and has an outdoor patio that welcomed diners – and dogs – all year long.
"This is a blow to the gut," one person commented on Atwood's post. "So sad to lose yet another wonderful neighborhood spot. So many memories of great music, food & drink here."
"This one hurts. Atwood's was my favorite small music venue," another person wrote. "Thank you for so many brilliant nights with so many brilliant musicians."
Atwood's is located at 877 Cambridge Street in Cambridge and is open Wednesday through Friday and Monday from 3-10 p.m., and Saturday and Sunday from 12-10 p.m.
