10-Year-Old Girl Killed In Springfield Rampage Died Protecting Her Family: Obit
Aubrianna Lynn Serra loved princesses, dancing, and gymnastics, but more than anything, she loved her family. The 10-year-old died trying to protect them when a gunman entered her grandmother's Springfield home last week, her obituary said.
Aubrianna Lynn was shot on Aug. 14, along with her 12-year-old sister and grandmother, Kim Fairbanks, at a home at 174 Berkshire Ave., Springfield police said. Their upstairs neighbor Victor Nieves pulled the trigger before killing himself, police said.
Aubrianna Lynn died three days after at Boston Children's Hospital after days in intensive care.

Two men with lengthy criminal histories were convicted this week of stabbing a man in 2020 during a fight in Springfield, officials said.
Carlos Cuba, 33, of West Springfield, and Khair Abdul-Raheem, 34, of East Longmeadow, were found guilty of assault and battery with a dangerous weapon on Monday, Aug. 14, the Hampden County District Attorney announced Thursday. Abdul-Raheem was also found guilty of breaking and entering a vehicle in the daytime.

Fire investigators say a two-alarm Hampden County blaze on Thursday, Aug. 3, started on a grill on a home's back porch.
The fire began just before 4 p.m. on Wilbraham Street in Palmer as a family was cooking dinner on their outside grill, the Palmer Fire Department said. The blaze quickly got out of control and spread to the home before crews could get there and battle the flames back.

One Killed In Rollover Crash In Region
A 31-year-old Western Massachusetts man died after losing control of his vehicle on the Mass Turnpike, striking a median, and rolling over his vehicle, state police said.
In Hampden County, troopers responded to a stretch of I-90 eastbound in Wilbraham, where there was a report of a one-car crash involving a rolled-over vehicle with one injured.
Police said that upon arrival, troopers found a vehicle that had struck the median and rolled over, coming to a rest in the breakdown lane, with the driver suffering from life-threatening injuries.

Police have arrested a suspect in a string of home break-ins as well as recovered some of the allegedly stolen property.
On Saturday, Jan. 23, police said that, after a months’ long investigation, they were able to issue a warrant for the suspected burglar’s arrest, Wilbraham Police said.

Police are saluting an “alert” citizen who reported a man suspiciously watching children at play.
It turns out the man is a sex offender who never registered his newest home, work or school address with the police.
