Maura Healey Becomes First Female, Openly Gay Governor Of Massachusetts Massachusetts Attorney General Maura Healey toppled Geoff Diehl to become the state's first female and openly governor following weeks of heavy campaigning.  The two barnstormed across Massachusetts in recent days leading up to the election on Tuesday, Nov. 8, but the race was never close.  Democrat Healey held a double-digit lead over the former longtime Republican politician for months leading up to Tuesday's vote. In the end, she collected about 63 percent of the vote while Diehl won around 35 percent, CBS Boston reports citing projected results from the Associated Press.  We did it…
