Tornado Touched Down In NY During Round Of Severe Storms: Here's When, Where A tornado touched down in New York State during a round of severe storms, the National Weather Service has announced following a survey of the damage. The tornado hit the village of West Winfield in southern Herkimer County late Saturday morning, June 22. It's about 60 miles east of Syracuse and 85 miles west of Albany. ID Released For Tour Bus Driver From Hudson Valley In Crash Hospitalizing 57 The identity has been released of the driver of a tour bus headed from the Hudson Valley that crashed on the New York Thruway about 25 miles west of Syracuse, sending 57 people to the hospital. The crash happened Saturday afternoon, Aug. 14 on westbound I-90 near Exit 40 (Weedsport) in Cayuga County when it exited the roadway for an unknown reason and rolled over onto the grassy shoulder, according to New York State Police. Dean's List College Student From Hudson Valley Found Dead In Dorm Room A college student from the Hudson Valley has died at age 20. Dutchess County resident Cory Gallinger, of Salt Point, a junior at Le Moyne College in Syracuse, was found unresponsive in his dorm room on Sunday, March 21, according to college officials. The cause of death has not been released. On Monday, March 22, a vigil was held outside a chapel on campus, with approximately 1,000 attending, according to Syracuse.com.
