Springfield Schools To Dismiss Early As Temps To Reach Near Triple Digits
Springfield school officials said they will cancel classes earlier on Friday, Sept. 8, as oppressive heat continues to blanket the region. A heat advisory remains in effect for most of Central and Western Massachusetts as temperatures on Friday are set to reach 97 degrees. School District In Region Increases Security After Apparent National Threat
Following social media threats, there will additional police presence at a school district in the region. The posts were shared in Western Massachusetts from another municipality in another state, according to the Springfield Police Department. The individuals who shared them locally are the subject of a criminal investigation, said the Springfield Police. Western Mass School Districts Announce Early Dismissals Due To Heat Advisory
With a Heat Advisory issued by the National Weather Service in effect, some Western Mass school districts have announced early dismissals on Monday, June 7. Heat index values in the upper 90s are expected Monday afternoon. The heat advisory is in effect until 8 p.m. Monday. Chicopee Public Schools All schools will be closing early for both in-person and remote learners.
