Update: Dog, 2 People Die In Early Morning Western Mass Fire, Officials Say Two older adults and a dog were killed in an early morning fire in Western Massachusetts this week, fire officials said.  Springfield Fire responded to the fire at 126 East Street in Springfield around 2:30 a.m. on Thursday, March 30, the Department of Fire Services (DFS) reports. One Person Killed In Early Morning Springfield Fire: Officials A woman who was injured in an early morning fire in Springfield has died from her injuries, state fire officials said.  Crews responded to the fire at 68 Federal Street just after 4 a.m. on Friday, Jan. 13, according to the Springfield Fire Department on Twitter. Investigators determined that the fire started in the living room.  Paramedics rushed a woman in her 60s to the hospital for treatment, where she later succumbed to her injuries, officials said Friday afternoon. One Hospitalized After House Fire Breaks Out In Springfield One person was hospitalized after a house fire broke out in Western Massachusetts. The fire started in Springfield on Tuesday morning, Feb. 8 at 247 Trafton Road. One person was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries following the fire, according to Springfield Fire and Emergency Services. The Springfield Arson and Bomb Squad is working to determine what started the fire, which is believed to have begun in the basement, the department said.

Two Rescued After Apartment Fire Breaks Out In Region Two people were rescued from a third-floor apartment in Western Massachusetts during a two-alarm fire. The fire started around 3 a.m., Monday, Dec. 27 in Springfield at 858 Belmont Ave. Springfield Fire Department officials said two people were rescued from the third floor using ladders. One of those rescued was transported to the hospital with minor injuries, another was treated at the scene, the department said. Firefighters had the fire under control in about an hour. The Springfield Arson and Bomb Squad is currently investigating.

Arson: Fire Intentionally Set At Burlington Coat Factory The Arson and Bomb Squad have been called in to investigate a small fire at a Burlington retail store. On Sunday, firefighters were called to Burlington Coat Factory on Cooley Street in Springfield for a report of a fire. The fire was quickly extinguished and no injuries were reported. The Springfield Arson and Bomb Squad determined the fire was set intentionally. The incident is under investigation.
