In the image above, higher-than-average snowfall is predicted for those areas shown in light blue, with most areas in the Northeast are expected to receive more snow this season than last winter. Areas in the darker shade are expected to see below average snowfall in 2024-25, including in much of the Mid-Atlantic states. Three Hospitalized After Head-On Hampden County Crash During Storm Three people received minor injuries during a head-on crash during a snowstorm in Western Massachusetts. The crash took place in Hampden County around 9:30 a.m., Friday, Jan. 7, near the intersection of Converse Street and Rugby Road in Longmeadow. When police arrived on the scene they found one of the vehicles on fire, but an officer was able to extinguish the flames, according to Longmeadow Police.  Three people were taken to a local hospital for minor injuries, police said.

Man Dies Attempting To Rev His Way Out Of A Snowbank A New Jersey man has died after attempts to drive his car out of a snowbank proved fatal. On Wednesday, Feb. 3, Little Ferry Police responded to a report of a vehicle stuck in the snow around 9 a.m. near Mehrof Road. Though it could not be seen through the piles of snow the car, a four-door Mazda SUV hatchback had driven up on a parking divider with part of the car on the grass, according to NBC News. Family IDs 25-Year-Old 'Kind-Natured' Victim In Fatal Crash The victim in a fatal, one-car crash has been identified by the family - He was a hard-working Pioneer Valley bartender and star athlete.  The crash happened on Wednesday, Dec. 16, on Southampton Road in Holyoke.  The victim was Samuel “Sammy” Garcia, Jr., 25, of Easthampton, according to his obituary. Garcia was a star athlete in high school and worked at popular bars and restaurants in the Pioneer Valley. There already are two forecasts by a pair of publications with long histories, and they're not exactly in agreement.
