450 Patients File Lawsuit Against Salem Hospital After Potential Exposure To HIV, Hepatitis
Patients have filed a class-action lawsuit against Salem Hospital after nearly 450 of them say they were potentially exposed to HIV and hepatitis through their IVs. Endoscopy patients at Salem Hospital “were potentially exposed to infection due to the administration of their intravenous medication in a manner not consistent with our best practice,” the hospital said in a statement to the Daily Voice. Update: The family of a 21-year-old who was shot while at a Lynn house party early Saturday morning, Sept. 2, has started a GoFundMe in his name. Jandriel Heredia was called the heart of the family and their angel. He died on Sunday after succumbing to his wounds from the previous night's shooting. 2 Mass Hospitals Among Best Of The Best In US, New Study Says
People who live in Massachusetts have access to some of the best hospitals in the country, a new study has found. Two Boston hospitals were named among the 22 healthcare facilities that made an elite "Honor Roll" list created by U.S. News and World Report, meaning they excel across all or most types of care evaluated by researchers. 84-Year-Old Man Drowns At North Shore Beach, Report Says
An 84-year-old man has died after he was pulled from the water in Lynn, CBS Boston reports. Police responded to a report of a person drowning at Lynn Beach shortly before 3 p.m. on Sunday, June 26, the outlet reports. Upon arrival, crews gave the man medical aid before transporting him to Salem Hospital for further treatment. He did not survive, the outlet reports. The incident remains under investigation.
